Laser Hair Removal

At the Lee Clinic our master aesthetician,certified laser technician, Sherry Hagan, uses the Harmony xl to perform light based hair removal.

How does it work?

A large rectangular window emitts broad-spectrum light to the skin surface.  This energy travels throught the epidermis and dermis until it strikes the hair follicle, which contains a melanin rich hair shaft and bulb.  The melanin aborbs the light and rises slowlin in temperature and then destroys the hair producing cells surrounding the follicle.  No damage occurs ouside of the follicle area as the heat is not sustained.

Am I a candidate?

Laser hair removal does not work on grey hair, or very blond hair as there is not enough melanin the hair follicles.  A complimentary consulation with our provider can let you know if laser hair removal will work for you.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically  4 to 6 treatments will be required.  Hair grows in four stages, and only the follicles in the first stage are affected by the treatment.  Therefore each treatment affects approximately 25 % of hair.  After  4 to 6 treatments permanent hair removal is achieved.

Will there be any downtime or side effects?

There is no down time, and the risk of side effects is minimal.
