Lyme Disease, Fibromylagia, Autism

2009 Lyme-Autism Connection Conference,  Scottsdale Arizona. This was a excellent conference that intermingled the traditional and alternative treatments for children and adults affected by Borrelia (lyme disease), multiple infections and /or Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD. There were multiple lectures on the newest treatments and also reports on the results of  older treatments. The newest concept in treatment  and one that shows the greatest promise is the treatment of Biofilm. The concept of biofilm  makes the most sense and it is  also  the mechanism that cancer cells  use to hide and protect themselves from treatment.   Lecturers were Lee Cowden MD, Joe Mercola DO and Dietrich Klinghardt MD these are well known and respected physicians that gave a great overveiw of treatments

In my experience, hard to treat diagnoses such as Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia, Autism and even Cancer respond best to treatments that address these four issues

1. Hormonal Issues- the sex hormones, especially DHEA can effect the immune function

2. Vitamins – C, D3, B6, and B12 increase immune function

3.  Optimal thyroid function increases the natural killer cell activity  and helps “clean up” metablolic products.

4.  The treatment of Biofilm- which is the protective protein which is produced by infections and cancer,

5.  Use of Low Dose Naltrexone to improve  immune function.
